September is the normal time of year for new digital camera product announcements, and this year is no exception. Canon have joined the fray with it's announcement of the new EOS 50D digital SLR (amongst others!).
Key features of the new model include:
The launch of this camera comes as something of a surprise given the relative popularity of the Canon 40D. It's not yet clear, however, if this model is a replacement for the 40D or an addition to the range.
Pricing and availability information is not yet available for this camera.
Canon have also made clear that they have another camera waiting in the wings, the detail of which they are keeping secret for the time being. It is suspected that this camera will be the long-anticipated replacement for the full-frame EOS 5D, particularly in light of Nikon's recent announcements of the D3 and D700 'FX'-format (full frame) cameras. More information will be available on this as it becomes available.
Check out the new Canon EF-S 18-200mm IS lens, too
